Open Gym For Basketball In Ottawa

First, the red carpet, very dull to me. I'll save Scarlett, Hillary Swank, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Lawrence y. .. To Penelope? I really have not seen anything special this year. While there are always exceptions and risk figures.

Second, James Franco (more concerned about twitter all live with your phone in the backstage) and Anne Hathaway, very poor presentation of the show, though the script was not to shoot rockets. Ceremonies of the worst I remember. Luckily there was some figure who saved the furniture a tad, as Kirk Douglas giving the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress Melissa Leo, how great is this man, or the brief emergence of Billy Crystal, and delivery of Best Actor Award with references to the nominees by Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock. But is that even the great Randy Newman played the piano badly.

Third, although it was sung, I feel really bad that 'the king's speech' is the big winner. It's a good movie, but it is forgettable. Spielberg, who gave the ultimate prize, recalled some great movies before they lost the Oscar, maybe there was some kind of subliminal message in it.

Fourth, it seems even worse than you have returned to swipe the Oscar for Best Director for David Fincher to give to Tom Hooper (The king's speech.) It was 5 in the morning here in Spain and I wanted to send them all to hell, but I can say I endured to the end (almost 6 in the morning). By the way, I recommend seeing 'The Damned United' (Cursed United) Hooper's previous film, much better than this.

Fifth, with the rest of the awards I quite agree: the actors (Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Melissa Leo), animation film (Toy Story 3), foreign film ( In a Better World, Denmark), Adapted Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin), and technical awards for Origin, but I watch the best original screenplay for David Seidler (The king's speech), but went into my forecasts. I would have preferred to give the poor Christopher Nolan by Source, or Lisa Cholodenko by The Kids Are All Right, with more original scripts and studied. Sixth

, Tinker In Memoriam assembly to remember the deceased artists this year. They forgot Rohmer, Berlanga and Maria Schneider. And Celine Dion sang above.

And seventh, Greg P. Russell has become lost in Best Sound Mixing! 14 nominations already and nothing. I think he saw leaving the Kodak Theatre in tears and with a rope in his hands. At the moment I have that is still missing.

ceremony Summary My club for Oscar

Despite having already made it clear in previous posts, here's my final betting and summarized for the awards this morning. Well, with some notes and dissent. Willing to failure and error.

True Grit Best Picture (but win the king's speech) Best Director
David Fincher (The network)
Best Actor Colin Firth (The king's speech, the Academy loves interpretations people with disabilities or disorders)
Best Actress Annette Bening (The kids are fine), but also earn the fabulous Natalie Portman.
Best Supporting Actor Christian Bale (The Fighter). While John Hawkes is proud in Winter's Bone.
Best Actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter)
Best Original Screenplay Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg and The kids are fine (but I will by Source Nolan, well, maybe David Seidler of King's speech).
Best Adapted Screenplay by Aaron Sorkin network
The Best Animated Toy Story 3
Best Foreign Language Film In a Better World (Denmark)

PD. If Greg P. Russell (14 times nominated for Best Sound Mixing and no award) does not win tonight I think follow the lead given by Pepe Colubi (co-presenter on Canal + at the gala). This award is given at 3:38 h in the morning, and if not give it, will be lifted from the sofa, open the window and shout: "I am more than tired, and I will not keep supporting it!" (After jump or not is optional.)

List of winners of the Independent Spirit Awards (the Oscars of the indie film released yesterday).

CRITICAL WEEK

FOUR DAYS A WEEK

A four-day week? That was one of the first things we ask when we decided to revive the tradition of organizing the Critics' Week, which had seven successful editions but failed to do in 2005. Or do we put the "Weekend Critic? Finally, outweighed the desire to return to the name we had installed (not invented it, it's true) and make a four-day week, although, strange but fortunately, with the most traditional films.

There are several changes in this edition. In addition to a new headquarters, the Cosmos Film / UBA, with hope that you've regained its glory as a major independent cinema hall in Buenos Aires, over four days we will show nine movies, with lots of local previews and even a world premiere, which is unusual for a festival small and these characteristics. FIPRESCI

stands (always complicated to pronounce) of the Federation of Film Critics, and the Argentina subsidiary of such entity is the organizer of the week. FIPRESCI is a federation of associations of critics over 60 countries and has presence in about 70 festivals a year, in delivering the FIPRESCI Prize, for many known and "the critic's prize."

As part of the Critics' Week, and following another tradition, the opening will be delivered the prizes to the best movies of last year, between the Argentine and international premieres. With an addition: the last day of the show will exhibit Argentina winning film.

So welcome, once again, the Critics' Week, which in its eighth edition offers a combo of independent Argentine cinema, two very good films "art films" international and a very special horror for Saturday night. And we are proud to present world premiere, Al end life goes on, like, the new film by Raúl Perrone, one of the most important and influential independent filmmakers from Argentina.

Daemon Toolsmount And Blade

The "trilogy" of Gutierrez

I come to speak on three films written and directed by Sebastian Gutierrez Venezuela, widely known as the boyfriend of Carla Gugino in addition to the script of this scandalous film called 'Snakes on a Plane. " These three films that talk can be seen almost as a trilogy, but in fact each is a spin-off from the front. First things first.

Women in Trouble Shot and edited with great style, also charged with eroticism, Women in Trouble tells us a day of several women at a critical point in their lives, but yes, stories without being isolated, ie that they all are connected to each other lightly. All are stories full of drama abysmal, but treated with a black humor very personal and effective. You may have some ups and downs in your footage, but at least meets the highest of cinema: to create interesting characters and make things happen, well, everything that happens, although it may it is not the best film to make an example. Even so, I still like enough, and that is what counts and what has me waiting for the next releases of this director. It shows Carla Gugino, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Simon Baker, Josh Brolin, Sarah Clarke, Adrianne Palicki, Marley Shelton, Isabella Gutierrez and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a small cameo after the credits.

Elektra Luxx
Spin-off of the eponymous character who appeared in Women in Trouble . Elektra Luxx tells the story of a porn star who becomes pregnant, with all the dilemmas involved. In addition, the father of the child died in a "plane crash" without knowing anything about it. After going through all this, Elektra decides to leave the adult film and get to a school teacher. Interestingly, Sebastian Gutierrez was based on the true story of actress Heather Hunter to create the character. With Carla Gugino again in the role of Elektra, and with appearances again Emmanuelle Chriqui, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marley Shelton, Adrianne Palicki and Isabella Gutierrez. We can also see Julianne Moore and Alicia Silverstone. Elektra Luxx premiered at South by Southwest Festival and was ranked by many as one of the most notable films of this director to date. In the rest of the world premiere on 11 March, but the thing continues ...

Girl Walks Into a Bar
confess that making this film I have begun to enter the nerves and excitement. Girl Walks Into a Bar not know if you can consider a spin-off Elektra Luxx, in particular, is inspired by a scene from the film before forming a new story that takes place in ten bars in the city of Los Angeles. Then you will see the amazing trailer, full of stars like Rosario Dawson, Danny DeVito, Josh Harnett, Robert Forster, Alexis Bledel, Emmanuelle Chriqui (again), Amber Valletta, and of course, Carla Gugino. The film premieres like 'Elektra Luxx' next March 11 for free by (yes, you read that right) in the portal Youtube. As curiosity I will say that the budget returns to ridicule, which was shot in 11 days, and stole a camera Canon 7D, no, no I'm kidding, actually I'm still hallucinating.

To further finish the job, it is rumored that Sebastian Gutierrez prepares another sequel called "Women in Ecstasy 'for this year. What a great example of what can really do with a few friends, a camera, and I guess a good script.

Low Hair Or Mini Afro

'value law' is my bet

Okay, so I promised, I have my favorite to claim the Oscar for Best Picture. It's 1:20 pm and I just got the movie after seeing the final candidate of the ten who choose this year, and as is usual, I saved the best for the final dish. I just saw "True Grit" (Value Act) of the Coen brothers and no doubt. Earlier I mentioned that I would like you to take 'The Kids Are All Right' or 'Winter's Bone' (which was just released also in Spain), but as this is not going to happen, my final prediction is for Coen and his new masterpiece: the magnanimous and masterful 'True Grit. " I promise I've tried to be as impartial as possible, but it is a movie of these gods and instantly go into ecstasy, I can not help. In fact I'm seriously considering selling my soul to these two to see if I give some power or something.

Maybe my heart and my prediction fail (not the first time.) This year there are more nominees than ever, and perhaps play against it a remake of that tape also fabulous at 69 Hathaway gave him his only Oscar to the great John Wayne, but it turns out that it is better, and is that I am also starting to think that in a small burst of the Academy (and rightly of course), the Oscar for best actor can go for the second year my beloved Jeff Bridges. Colin Firth is out on 'The king's speech,' but Bridges ... Bridges course, is empathetic as they come and he will shed tears of pure emotion. It would be historic and a player like Wayne Bridges other as both had this award for playing the same character, but one thing is clear, the recognition already have it.

Before closing the post, I would like to copy here a few words that dropped Carlos Boyero in El Pais this morning:

It is very rare that the actual movie deal of the Western, a genre exhausted and flip to the public, according to the criteria that Hollywood executives love the special effects, the three dimensions and banality noisy. It is fortunate that the personality and talent of the Coen have decided to address this apparent gender in death, achieve so much art into something that is no longer fashionable but keeps intact its expressive possibilities to make great movies.

Amen, and long live the western and Coen. Good night.

Loser Have To Strip Movies

Wanting to see "No Strings Attached '(aka Fuckbuddies)

In Spain we have to wait until the scheduled date and time: March 25. A new day note in your diaries. At first glance may seem like the typical romantic comedy, but the truth is that I hope will be something more, otherwise I assure you would not even mentioning it. The script for this film, written by the wonderful Elizabeth Meriwether (to which I devoted an entry here), was ranked number six best scripts without producing on the blacklist in 2008, but yes, I had a title far more provocative: 'Fuckbuddies', something like Follamigos , which later became known as 'Friends with Benefits' to finally end up as 'No Strings Attached' , because curiously a movie with a plot similar had enough copied the title. If I were the writer that I would become very, very angry. Luckily, Meriwether has a style and a voice hard to copy. Here is a brief example of his work: http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/f57c441be1/twilight-cycles

The truth is that No Strings Attached is being a great success North American box office, and since its release just over a week leading with revenue totaling already at 40 million dollars. A surprise or not. I suppose a lot has to do with it also Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman, the two protagonists, and its director, Ivan Reitman, who remember the mythical Ghostbusters who had to see her son after directing films like Juno and Up in the Air you re-entered the filmmaking bug. As you can imagine
go, the movie is about two friends who want to maintain a purely sexual relationship, no love and no romance, but the question is what happens if you fall in love? Rounding out the cast
Kevin Kline and the new discovery Actress Greta Gerwig, which we have seen in Greenberg and see Noah Baumbach in Damsels in Distress , the return of the great Whit Stillman.

Liz Meriwether is now immersed in two screenplays for Paramount and Universal, and a proposed series that has sold to Fox about a girl who after breaking up with her boyfriend decides to go live with a group of guys who has ever known. The original title was 'Chicks and Dicks', but for obvious reasons the chain and forced him to change it. Previously, Meriwether also tried to sell another series called 'Sluts', but no luck. One thing you can make it clear, is that this girl certainly likes the bold titles. I wonder if one day have the freedom to expose. I think so.

Then I leave with a fantastic trailer restricted to minors. The other, open to all public is on youtube, but I like less. The fact is that sex has long since ceased to be taboo in fiction film and television, every day is more open and natural, and I drink to that.
