Adding Aux Input To Boombox

musical Entry March

Sorry this apathy nearly two weeks, but lately I'm pretty ocupadillo with different paperwork and recording and Season 2 of "Hispania" for Antena 3. I think it will surprise the new look, but do not anticipate events. What I bring to you today I have not written it was written by the producer Pancho Casal few days ago in his blog recommended, and is a document that I think will interest you.

Where does the money you pay for your movie ticket?

When someone buys a yogurt in a supermarket knows that part of what you pay is for their own supermarket, another party to the distributor, one for the carrier and finally one for Danone.

However in terms of film revenues, is very common to think that what is entered in the box office goes to the producer. Anyone who thinks a bit you realize that this assumption is absurd, but these days I have read several press reports this tone: "Segura Torrente recover the cost of 4 on the first weekend." We know

Torrente 4 has raised € 8.5 M (who will catch and how he deserves it) in the first weekend. But where does that money go?. The you pay for your ticket is broken in this way. I'm going to do in base 100 to make it easier. That is, suppose the input is 100:

1 .- The State leads the way VAT is 7%. With the remaining 100:1,07 = 93.46. This is what is called the Gross Box Office (BT) after taxes.

2 .- The public communication rights of authors and performers (SGAE + AISGE) take 2% of BT, ie 1.87. The truth is not how much has AISGE, so if these were won 1.87 SGAE, and knowing that the 25% split between: Arguments and author of the original work (novelist), Writer, Director and Musician. Each one would take 0.47.

3 .- The cinema is between 45 and 55% average for BT. Let us assume that in this case is 50%. Then the film gets 46.73.

4 .- The rest would set the Net Asset (NT) for the distributor. The rest represent 44.86.

NT 5 .- This is the dealer for his work between 15% and 30% depending on whether or not risk the cost of prints and advertising (P & A, Prints & Advertising). Suppose that in this case falls to 20%. This would be 8.97.

6 .- Now we are the producer will receive 35.89 discounting everything mentioned. Ja!, What illusion. Now comes the recipe for the investment in P & A transport costs of copying, ticket control, etc. Everything is paid by the producer. How long will it last?. Depends on what you've invested in P & A. Calculations

case study of Torrente 4, we can estimate that P & A have invested between 1.3 and 1.8 M €. Estimates put € 1.5 million.

And now for the letters that are not handled well in this world of the percentages, I'll move those calculations € hard cash: We start from a

Box Office Total Torrente 4 in its first weekend of 8, 5 M €.

1 .- The State VAT has been: € 556,000.

2 .- The Public Communication rights are: € 159,000. That divided into 39,700 apiece to scriptwriter, screenwriter, director and musician.

3 .- The owners of the cinemas, they take: € 3,972,000.

4 .- The distribution is carried: € 762,000.

5 .- The producer has: 3,051,000 to 1,500,000 of P & A = € 1,551,000. There is still much to be done to recover around € 8 million that is said to have cost the movie. I am sure that in this case the producer not only recover the investment, but it will earn much money, but is that not everything is gold glitters.

may have some small error in the calculations above, but I can guarantee that the actual figures are not far from them. If you detect any errors can be noted in the comments. In another post

discuss the financial plan of an average movie with many inputs and some will be surprised to see, if I do, that's not true that most films are funded entirely by grants and generated the worst cases more revenue for the state subsidies received.

Ah! by the way, thank you very much and hugs to the blogs of writers who recommend my blog, I've been a great satisfaction personal.

Updates: several kind readers of this blog, I have noted some clarifications attached:

* Current VAT is not 7%, if not 8%. The State takes a little longer.

* In the settlement of Authors, the authors deduced SGAE a management fee that they say is 20%.

* All amounts allocated to each link in the chain, are gross, which means that the benefits generated for exhibitors, distributors, writers and producers, taxed either corporation tax or income tax, so that the tax returns receivable. For here I

giving clues of where to go next post to show that the film support is repaid many times over by the Treasury in most cases.
